First Day 3/27/12

Community nutrition is a set of activities designed to provide access to a adequate, healthful diet to a population living in a particular community or area. This could include nutrition education, health promotion, food programs, or preventative programs. Ideally it involves steps such as assessment to identify problems, planning to meet the communities nutrition needs, and implementation to develop solutions to reduce the problems.

In this class I hope to learn more about the process of community nutrition. I have done many volunteer projects that are involved in community nutrition, however I feel like I need a better look at the big picture. I haven't really got to see what goes through a community health professionals thought process when developing strategies to improve the community, so I hope in this class I will be able to see more of that side of it.
